We know, Happy Navratri commences on the first and ends on the tenth day of the bright half of the lunar month Asvina. This year , it started on 8 th Oct and ends on Saraswathi Pooja..ie. 16 th Oct, with Vijayadasami celebrated on 17 th Oct 2010..!

In this festival season,  we used to invite all the friends, relatives & neighbours over to home,  to look at the Golu and participate in the pooja.  In Golu, the dolls are decorated beautifully in wooden plank steps. And they are meant to represent the Goddess Mahishasramardini sitting on her throne..!

And this festival is celebrated with great joy to commemorate  the  victory  of  the  good over  the  evil..!

During  this auspicious moments, devotional songs or shlokas are chanted...!!!

After performing the pooja, the food items, sweets and sundal that have been offered to the Goddesses are given as prasadam to all…! Also , Kumkum, flowers and a small bag of gifts are given to girls & married women..!

Am  glad  to  share  with  you  the  traditional  Golu  pics  of   Navratri  Pooja ,  which  is  being  celebrated   in  my   Loving  Aunt  Mrs. Parvathy’s   house…!   My  Aunt  and  her  young  daughters,  used  to  decorate  Golu  each  year  very  innovative  and  eye catching...!
