Rava Kesari / Sooji Ka Halwa / Semolina Pudding















Rava  Kesari:








Tasty Sweet Kesari is a delicious South Indian dessert. This is prepared with Sooji  Rava, sugar and ghee. I have prepared this for  Navratri  Pooja  as Prasadam to God . 



This festival special recipe is very easy to prepare and gets done under 15 minutes with minimal ingredients.
Its optional to use saffron soaked in milk for orange color, instead of using orange food color. And adding sugar is up to your taste.




Give a try to this Rava Kesari dessert and please your sweet teeth…:)






Ingredients:






  • Rava /  Sooji                             - 1 cup

  • Sugar                                       - 1 cup

  • Milk                                          - 1 ½ cup

  • Ghee                                        - 5 to 6 tbsp

  • Cashew nuts & Raisins              - as per taste

  • Cardamom pwd                         - a pinch

  • Orange food color                     - ½ tsp

  • Water                                        - ½ cup











Method:





















  1. Heat 3 tbsp of ghee in a fry pan.

  2. Fry cashews and raisins to golden.

















  1. Keep it aside.

  2. Now fry Rava, sauté it till nice aroma comes out and turns light brown color.















  1. Take it aside.

  2. Add milk, sugar  and water.

  3. Allow to boil with stirring.











  1. Add  Rava little by little, and keep stirring.

  2. Make sure no lumps are formed.













  1. Add  orange food color and mix.

  2. Drizzle the remaining ghee as well.















  1. Stir continuously till it turns thick in halwa consistency.

  2. Add roasted cashew , raisins and cardamom pwd.

















  1. Tasty Sweet Kesari is ready to enjoy..!

    Happy Saraswati Puja & Ayudha Puja

    Dear Friends,






    Here’s my Heartiest good wishes 
    to All of you on this auspicious day of Saraswati Puja !! 


    Today is  considered very auspicious  &  is celebrated on the 9th day of the Navrathri. 




















    May  Goddess Saraswati protect you &
     shower blessings and knowledge.!




    Saraswati is the Goddess of Learning, music and all the creative arts.  If we have the right learning, wealth follows wherever we go !  




    This is the day,  our little kids starts writing the first letter of word. 
    ( first experience of Reading n Writing ) . The grown up kids, keep their books in the puja, and get the blessings from Goddess.






    Also, this day is celebrated as Ayudha Puja.  In this special day, all the workers worship their tools & machines, after cleaning, painting and polishing them. 








    Today, we had a small saraswati puja at home as in the below pictures. For Neyvedhyam, we prepared  medhu vada,   rawa kesari   &   cashew sweet,  ven pongalbadam payasam  and offered the same as neivedhyam to Goddess.




















































































    I thought of posting the recipes of cashew sweet & rawa kesari , today….but, no time..! may be very soon..:)

    Happy Navratri Pooja & Chana Dal Sundal















    Happy Navrathri Pooja & Chana Dal Sundal:

    As long as Ganeshji's trunk,
    Wealth as big as his stomach,
    Happiness as sweet as his ladoos
    And may your troubles be as small as his mouse.

    Yesterday, I’ve been to my friends Navratri kolu &  tasted this healthy & easy Chana dal sundal.  The taste is awesome, that I  couldn’t stop myself preparing today at my home.




    Here goes the yummy snack recipe, packed full of protein..!








    Ingredients:




















    ·         Chana dal                      - 2 cups
    ·         Coconut pieces              - ¼ cup
    ·         Oil                                - 1 tsp
    ·         Mustard                        - ¼ tsp
    ·         Cumin                           - ½ tsp
    ·         Urad dal                        - 1 tsp
    ·         Red chilly                      - 2
    ·         Curry leaves                  - few
    ·         Asafetida                       - a pinch
    ·         Salt to taste
    ·         Fresh coriander leaves












    Method:




















    1.     Wash and soak chana dal in hot water for 30 minutes.
    2.     Add salt and pressure cook for just 1 whistle.
    3.     Grate coconut to pieces and grind to fine shreds.
    4.     Heat oil in a frypan.
    5.     Season with mustard, curry leaves, cumin, asafetida, split urad dal and red chilly.
    6.     Add cooked chana dal.
    7.     Give a gentle stir.
    8.     Add coconut shreds, mix and turn off flame.
    9.     Sprinkle freshly chopped coriander leaves.
























    10.  Enjoy now the easy and healthy evening snack..:)

    Pomegranate Milkshake & Happy Birthday to my little Princess..!











    Pomegranate Milkshake:






    Dear  Friends, 






    This  week,  it  was  my  little  one’s  Birthday !  Its  most  wonderful  day  for  us.  We  had  a  simple  yet  cute  Birthday  celebration  for  her.  I  wanted  to  share a  few   pics,  that  we  had   at  home  for my  little  one.  She  loves  mickey  and  it took  us  a  while  to  find  her  favorite  gifts and  glad  to  see  the  excitement  in  her  face…:) 


    May God give her all happiness in this life..!


































































    .. Today,   I’m  sharing   a  yummy  Pomegranate  Mlkshake  recipe,  which  is  a  great  hit  in  our  family,  especially  with  my  kids.  This  healthy  beverage  is  a  perfect  way  to  cool  off  in  summers,  as  we  know  pomegranate  juice   have  high  level  of  powerful  antioxidants  in   it. Also,  it  is  a  rich  source  of  Vitamin A  &  C,  Calcium,  Magnesium,  Potassium,  Phosphorous  and  Iron.




    Enjoy  this  homemade  easy  breezy  delicious  shake..!












    Ingredients:




















    ·         Pomegranate                             - 1
    ·         Ice chilled milk                           - 2 cups
    ·         Honey                                       - 1 tsp














    Method:


















    1.     Cut the pomegranate in half, crosswise.
    2.     Remove seeds from fruit.
    3.     Combine all ingredients and blend them in a blender.
    4.     Mix well.
    5.     Pour in a glass. No need to add sugar.






















    6.     Enjoy the refreshing taste and color of this healthy shake...:)
