(Bitter Gourd Chips)



Bitter Gourd commonly known as ‘Pavakkai’ in Tamil and ‘karela’ in Hindi, has many medicinal benefits and nutrients. This Pavakkai Chips would be liked by all including children, as there is hardly any bitter taste after cooking.

Bitter Gourd is considered as a good medicine for diabetic patients and also for curing malaria, blood disorders and eye protection. It is rich in beta-carotene, calcium and potassium.





Ingredients needed:



·         Pavakkai (Bitter Gourd)                     - 2

·         Oil                                                       - 200 ml

·         Lemon juice                                        - 2 tbsp

·         Turmeric pwd                                      - ¼ tsp

·         Red chilly pwd                                   - 1 ½ tbsp

·         Asafoetida pwd                                  - a pinch

·         Corn flour                                           - 1 tbsp

·         Salt to taste



Method:



  1. Wash and cut Pavakkai to thin round slices.

  2. Discard the seeds.

  3. Allow to dry in a cotton towel.

  4. Take a small cup, make a paste of lemon juice, turmeric pwd, red chilly pwd, asafoetida pwd, corn flour and salt.

  5. Apply this paste completely over Pavakkai slices.

  6. Allow to marinate for 30 mins.

  7. Deep fry it in hot oil in medium flame.

  8. Stir continuously and take aside, once it turns crispy.

  9. Spread on a tissue paper to remove excess oil.







  1. Crispy Pavakkai Chips ready to delight your taste buds..!
