Seepu Seedai:
This is a healthy and tasty snack, which remains fresh for days. I learnt this recipe from my grand mother, who is an expert in crispy crunchy snack recipes. I now enjoy preparing them for my kids.
Ingredients:
· Raw rice - 2 cup
· Urad dal - ¾ cup
· Asafoetida pwd - ¼ tsp
· Butter - 3 tbsp
· Sesame seeds - 2 tsp
· Refined Oil - 250 ml
· Salt to taste -
Method:
- Wash and soak raw rice in water for 3 to 4 hrs.
- Strain the water from it. Dry on a cotton cloth for 30 mins.
- When still damp, grind to a fine pwd.
- Sieve the flour and fry it in dry kadai to remove any excess dampness.
- Sieve the flour again to remove granules present in it.
- Roast urad dal and grind to fine pwd.
- Take 2 cup of rice flour and ½ cup of urad dal pwd and mix them.
- Add little water, salt, asafoetida pwd, butter, sesame seeds and knead into a fine dough.
- Make thenkuzhal using a mould. Roll it to small round shape as shown in the picture.
- Transfer it into the hot oil.
- At a time, 10 to 15 seepu seedai can be fried.
- Take from oil, once it turns golden brown in color.
- Crispy, tasty seepu seedai ready to taste.
