Poori Potato Curry





Poori Potato Curry:



This potato curry recipe is a great side dish for Poori.  The rich aroma of onion and garlic invites one n all to dining. It’s one among the favorite menu of kids as they empty up their plate in minutes and ask for more. Recipe is easy to prepare also…







What is needed:



·         Potato                                - 2

·         Peas                                  - 1 small cup

·         Oil                                      - 2 tbsp

·         Onion                                - 2

·         Garlic                                - 4

·         Green chilly                       - 2

·         Turmeric pwd                    - ¼ tsp

·         Fresh lemon juice             - 1 tbsp

·         Salt to taste

·         Coriander and curry leaves



For Seasoning:

  • Mustard seeds                        - ¼ tsp

  • Cumin seeds                           - ¼ tsp

  • Split urad dal                           - ¼ tsp

  • Asafoetida                               - ¼ tsp

  • Curry leaves  



How to Prepare:



  1. Wash, peel the skin of potatoes, quarter it and boil it with little salt.

  2. Cook peas separately, ( peas will get smashed if it is boiled with potato, since potatoes have to be overcooked for smashing)

  3. Heat oil, temper with mustard, cumin, asafoetida, split urad dal, curry leaves.

  4. Wait to splutter, add chopped onion pieces fry them to golden.

  5. Add grated garlic, green chilly slited lengthwise and toss it.

  6. Add turmeric pwd, salt and allow to cook with ½ tb water.

  7. Once the curry masala thickens, add the cooked potatoes and peas.

  8. Combine well. Simmer the flame and allow to boil with constant stirring for another five mins.

  9. Remove from heat, add fresh lemon juice and mix it.

  10. Garnish with coriander sprinklings.







  1. Serve hot with Poori.
