This is a special south Indian dish, it has a main role in the festival PONGAL .
It tastes awesome. The rich flavor of ghee with jaggery delights your tastebuds sure.

Ingredients:
- Raw rice - 1 cup
- Moong dal - ½ cup
- Ghee - 6 tbsp
- Cashew - 6 to 8
- Raisins - 5 to 6
- Cardamom - 3
Method:
- Fry rice and moong dal in a low heat and soak it for about 10 mins.
- Pressure cook it, by adding a tbsp ghee to it.( this softens the pongal and gives taste) after 4 whistles, keep in low heat for about 5 mins, so that it is overcooked.
- Heat ghee, fry cashew to golden brown and fry raisins and cardomoms to fragrant.
- Break the jaggery to fine pieces, add water and allow to boil by stirring.
- When it comes to thick jaggery water, turn off the heat and filter it to remove dirt.
- As the pressure goes off, smash the contents, add thick jaggery water to it.
- Combine well, add fried cashew, cardamom and raisins to it.
- Tastes delicious as its served hot with vadai.
